The amazing and talented journalist and Nightshade Friend Nadja Sayej is hosting a great Indie art video blog called ArtStars*. Co-Created with Jeremy Bailey and Ryan Edwards, it's aim is to show that the art world isn't all grant galas and snobbery. It's actually really fun and a supper snappy blast!

2nd Annual Eco-Savvy Festival

The second annual EcoSavvy Festival will be up and running next weekend from the 19th to the 21st! It's put on by two very rad people Mihee and Tommy who I had the chance to get to know while I worked at Green Is Black.

It's a great family event, and if you don't know Mel Lastman Square, it's a great chance to go. I never really liked that bad boy, but he did make a great and beautiful public space. I lived across from it when I was in my first year of Ryerson, and every Thursday they would have a farmer's market in the morning. It was a great place to get cheap and uber fresh vegtables.

I digress.... back to the rad festival... there is going to be film screenings, live performances, events for kids, cooking classes, a food drive, scavenger hunt, and a Fashion Show on Saturday at 7 featuring Me to We Style, Vintage 69 and Green is Black! Make sure you check it out, it's worth the trip!

I want to go to the Islands

The one bad thing about going to the Toronto Islands is waiting forever for the ferry. But, with a few simple modifications to your bike, you don't need to !

Adding personal style to your bike is key to getting noticed. And BOY do people want to be noticed.

Howies

Howies just might be the UK version of the Deadly Nightshades. They're organic, they love biking and they're pretty much the cutest clothing company I've discovered in a while. This is all you really need to read to know it's true... Oh yeah, and read here about how they took on Levi's and won. Also - yes, that is a giant pedal on her t-shirt. Amazing.

"Nightshade" from the 90's cartoon C.O.P.S

Nightshade

Nightshade is a cat burglar, who slips in quietly into whatever place she finds of interest, steals a certain item (mainly jewelry), and quickly slips away undetected. At her job, she is seen in her brown and yellow stunt uniform with her tool belt wrapped around her waist. The belt contains all of the tools needed to help her during her latest heist. She also has long, red hair, wears blue eye makeup, and large gold triangular earrings. At other times, she has dressed up in a blue jacket worn with a purple, casual dress underneath. Sometimes Nightshade would put on a disguise that helps her and Big Boss carry out their criminal plans without being detected by even the C.O.P.S. team themselves. Nightshade is greedy and would sometimes argue with Big Boss over whether or not she is either promoted or going to get a raise. She sometimes expresses her disgruntlement of working for a selfish crimeboss. Imitating Big Boss in her own words, "I want this, I want that! Someday I'm gonna tell Big Boss off!" Despite this, Nightshade is perhaps the most reliable, significant criminal in the series and one of the few who seems reasonably intelligent.
