women's rights vs. climate change.

I stumbled across this, on Oxfam Canada's website yesterday, and i think it's something worth taking a look at. It talks about how poor women are least responsible for climate change but the most burdened by the impact. And while things like this can be so overwhelming... getting involved can be as simple as signing an ongoing online petition started for the last UN negotiations. It calls the Canadian government to "stop harming and start helping."

So let's do our part and show them that we care.

2ND ANNUAL EASTER DISTANCE BIKE!!!

So the second annual easter distance bike from Toronto, commenced last friday. Thirteen friends, 100 k and the far off shining beacon of Port Hope....

we may have lost some friends along the way...

and changed some tires....

but eventually we made it...

...with fanfare no less.

AND just in time

for the infamous ganny race (we're so competing next year by the way. riding down rivers in homemade "crafts" was MADE for us nightshades).

So this cute and seemingly super rad Lakefront Brewery in Wisconsin launched a fix-gear inspired beer... which lead to a facebook thread about how bike-culture is for sale.

Is it? Should it be? Would DNS's line also be in the category of 'bike-culture-for-sale?'

If we are busy

So it seems that we haven't been posting too much, maybe you think we are not up to much? I assure you that from besides being flattered by AA, we are all pretty busy doing creative/amazing/wonderful individual projects and partying like Nightshades do. Maybe because of this we are too busy preparing for a show or recovering from a hangover to post a blog. This little guy just raised $200,000 for Haiti.

Charlie Simpson rode his bike eight kilometers (five miles) around a local park, and with his genuine heart and a bit of public interest made about 400 times the amount of his initial goal . Bikes and kids are magic, eh?

The Nightshades were asked to sit for fashion Photographer Miguel Jacob this weekend for a series "to capture the personality and style of the subject in a unique and intimate manner." Some other personalities include the stylish Filip ( Porcelaine Desire) and Art Star's, Nadja Sayej.

Kirsten, Patty, Irene and myself went with bikes in hand along with the traditional Nightshades persona and brought the hottness and bling. You'll just have to wait to see the final product with we hope will be shown at an upcoming photo exhibit... but here is a taste of the attitude and style backstage.
