Yvonne Bambrick Launches her Urban Photography Bike Wheels!

Don't live in Toronto? No worries, now you can own art from one of this city's greatest cycling champion. Yvonne Bambrick just launched her Unique Bicycle Art Etsy account, where you can purchase one of her unique art pieces that combine her amazing photography with bike wheels for a one-of-a-kind statement piece for your house. Now it's time to play everyone's favourite game, Spot the Nightshade! Earlier this year I posed for Yvonne, and wound up on the cover of the City of Toronto Bike Map. They for some reason photoshoped bad bangs onto me, but hey- it's still kinda cool to be a cover girl.

DNS on FASHION website for #Lifecycles2013

Big Red made the cover of this article in Fashion online article on Hermann & Aubrey's Lifecycle's celebration taking place from the 7th to the 9th of June. Thora, Snow White and Fierce Bambi are also featured... of course.

This past weekend tons of bike polo players from all over the great lakes area came together for the Great Lakes Winter Classic.

NORTHERN STANDARD MAKES A DEAL!

A few of us Nightshades have caught the bike polo bug over the last few years. We travel all over the States and Canada to play our fav DIY sport and see all our good buds along the way. Its rough and tumble and full of fun, its also full of awesome people trying to improve the sport from the inside out. Our friends Max and Ken, owner's of Northern Standard have been making shafts and mallet heads for a few years now and decided they were passionate enough about their favourite sport to make it a full time job. They needed a little help first though, so they went to see "The Dragons"

My friends here in VanCity can make some really rad beach appropriate bags! I mean, we own the lifestyle. Riding to the beach fully prepared sans bag on your back is massively awesome if you have the kind of frame/lifestyle that doesn't support panniers. I'm in their video 'cause they offered to buy me ciders. This spot is also a prime example of the most excellent quality of lifestyle I am leading out here in Vancouver. It's is pretty much a documentary, not an ad.

DNS.MTV: Loosing it

ITS HUMP DAY: HAPPY HUMP DAY.

The Deadly Nightshades are no strangers to MTV Canada, last year we went down and lent our support to the MTV IMPACT episode called "Vicious Cycle" ( cycling in Toronto, the good, the bad, and the ugly) this time around the subject was loosing one's virginity. Our Snow White went down and repped her coloUrs and she discussed the loss of her own virginity. Talking about safe sex, the de-mistification of you're "first" time and creating and open dialogue with you're partner (s) is something DNS is very pro. You can find Snow around 1:45.

This is a little late, but I few months our dearest and most talented friend Kelly Henderson styled the New Pornographers video "Crash Years (Matador)".

Our other dear friend Sammy Rawal directed this master piece and we shared some shots with our Tribute bike gang The Dragon Scorpions(who also built some AMAZING bikes for the shoot and general riding)

First Ride of 2009!!!

We helped Kirsten aka Snow White with her video shoot for toronto based band Gravity Wave, last week. It was -23 degrees outside and I was wearing my orange tights with black denim shorts over top and my seafoam DNS jacket - which was cold enough to make me do serious freestyle aerobics in the middle of the street to keep my blood from freezing. You know how I love aerobics.

We had a great time. Kirsten filmed us with a marching band, rythmic gymnasts, tonnes of extras and some lost tobogganers all parading up Brunswick together while we biked in and out of the crowd. But most of all, we were so happy to be together on our bikes again!!! It's been so long and I'm so sick of wasting all of my money on the subway. I can't wait until I can start biking to work every morning. Laura's cruiser, Good Vibrations and my little folding bike, Lady in Red were in good shape - but Big Red's ride - Little Red - has a squeaky chain and it needs some grease or CLR or something.

Kirsten was a great director and kept everyone excited over her walkie talkie - and very organized while we biked around freezing our toes off.
